Junior Master Gardener Program

Master Gardeners of Crow Wing County: Junior MG Program

The Junior Master Gardener Program (JMG) was approved, March 2014 in a meeting of UMN Extension Crow Wing County Master Gardeners. The organizational phase of the program was completed by a committee made up of several CWC Master Gardeners during the spring and summer of 2014 with collaboration with the ISD 181 Schools. Help and training at the Forestview Middle School gardens from Master Gardeners as well as staff, made the program an enjoyable and exciting option for students who are interested in learning more about horticulture.

The JMG curriculum focuses on horticultural education, activities and projects linked with Minnesota Academic Standards for youth Grades 3 through 12. An anticipated start of the program in February of 2015.

** Note – This new program is now part of the ISD #181 Community Education Winter and Spring classes **
