Central Lakes College – CLC Native Pollinator Garden

Central Lakes College was looking for help with a neglected courtyard. Crow Wing Master Gardener Volunteers Joy Persall and Kayla Maria saw a great opportunity to further develop the partnership with the local college and to share knowledge of their indigenous heritage. With direction from Mary Sam, the Dean of Students, Wellness, and Equity, and collaboration with college Indigenous clubs and the Horticulture department, the area was weeded, solarized, and planted with native pollinator plants. Kayla and Joy will be installing educational signage in the spring of 2026, including facts of the significance of the particular plant to Indigenous tribes.
