Certified Extension Master Gardener

Theresa (Terri) Chidester became a Master Gardener in 2010, and volunteered in Aitkin County until moving to Crow Wing County in 2012. Terri lived on a large homestead for 23 years and practiced a sustainable, back to basics lifestyle. For many years she shared her knowledge through workshops on the Homestead as well as at the Happy Dancing Turtle sponsored Back to Basics Expo in Pine River.

Terri now lives and is land steward on a smaller homestead, and continues with the traditions she is passionate about; Organic Gardening, Heirloom Vegetables, Seed Saving, Herbals for health and wellness and Wild Edible Foraging. She is enjoying and incorporating new practices on 15 acres; Permaculture, Regenerative Organic Agriculture, Gardening Styles (Hugelkultur Beds) and Goatscaping.

New interests and studies through the Master Gardener Program and Independent Coursework include; Minnesota Native Botanicals, Rain Gardens, Garden Design, Horticulture Therapy, Soil and Fertilizer.

Terri's Master Gardener Crow Wing County volunteer projects have included; Aitkin County Fair's Master Gardeners Learning Garden, Buffalo Creek Watershed Rain Garden Mentor, the Healing Garden at Bethany Good Samaritan, Resident Gardens at Woodland Good Samaritan, Crow Wing SWCD Native Tree and Plant Sale, Garden Expo. Volunteer projects with the Crow Wing Master Gardeners include; Website/Social Media Committee, the Garden Expo, and area gardens at Senior and Assisted Living Communities.
